In my Beltring 2001 article I had mis-identified a
vehicle as a Swedish Hägglund model 202 all terrain vehicle. Subsequently
I received the following email from its owner:
======
Hello Doug
I saw this vehicle pictured at your page, somewhere. It is not a Swedish
Haglund or something like that. It a is a Bombardier Bombi, originally
built
in Canada, as a snow-tractor (Groomer). This one however has never seen any
snow because it was bought by the US Air-Force and was used as a
mosquito-sprayer somewhere on a tropical island. (I don't know where
exactly) These little machines were built between 1972 and 1982, I
believe.
The bars mounted on it in the picture are not a part of the
mosquito-equipment, but simply to shoot waterballoons, especially mounted
on
there for a little fun in Beltring. The spraying equipment isn't there
anymore.
You probably wonder how I know these things? Well this is an easy one. I am
the owner of this particular machine. Enclosed are a few more pictures. If
you want to show them too, go right ahead. I have many more pics if you're
interested.
