A while back I obtained a strange looking Am-1780 and C-2298.
These do not have the the characteristic skirt around the front of
the panels. You will see that there is only a very small molding at
the corners instead.
Please have a look and see if you can recognise whether this is a
pre-production model, an early model or something else?
These boxes have even stumped the intercom experts on the yahoo
"mvintercom" group. No-one has seen their like before.
Does anybody know what these are?

Your mystery am1780 and c2298 are just that...the earliest version that I've seen in a while. When they first came out they didn't have the lip around them..that was added after a lot were mangled by big footed crewmen.
So, thanks to Charles, another mystery solved.
