Ever seen a folding funnel?.    (Ver 1)

Whilst Fran and I were visiting Richard Notton in Southampton, England in 2000 he offered me a ride in his Stalwart. But first off we had to put some petrol in it. It was at this point Richard said "hang on whilst I just grab the funnel", but he reappeared with what looked like a steel briefcase and a bent lenght of rubber hose.

What it turned out to be is the device pictured below. I had never even heard of one of these intriguing British Army devices at this point.

He then unfolded it and connected the outlet hose. The funnel body unfolds to an "X" shape and forms its own steady base so that it doesn't have to be supported.

But best of all, it will take 2 Jerry cans at a time and due to the nature of the design you can leave them to empty themselves as the funnel will not allow the Jerrycans to empty too quick and overflow the funnel sides.

As you can imagine, this funnel is not much use for vehicles with side mounted petrol tank fillers. It is mainly intended for AFV's and Stalwarts. But with modifications to the outlet hose it could be adapted to lots of other vehicles.

My thanks to Richard for the pictures and demonstration.
