Here are some photos of a WWII re-enactment we did several years ago at
Galveston Island, Texas.
The event was sponsored by the Admiral Nimitz Museum in Fredericksberg, Texas. This was
a Pacific Theater re-enactment, simulating a marine landing on a Japanese
held island.

Leading the Convoy - This is my favorite ride. We are enroute to Galveston
Island, waiting to board the Point Bolivar Ferry.

This is the M4A3 105H Sherman.
It is part of the Texas Armed Forces Museum's collection. I think the
turret is post war French. The hull is mid-1944 production. The engine
is a modern diesel.

It's like figure skating in sand! This is Brent Mullin's M5 playing
in the sand. It has the original radial engine.

Nice DUKW! There were two of these at the event, both carried troops
via the water to the mock invasion beach.

Shady spot - This beast went to sea as well. I do not recall which version
this one was. (Doug - Looks like an LVT 4 Buffalo to me. We called the open
top personnel carrier a "Buffalo" and the turreted fire support model an
Alligator.)

Time to go - Marines prepare to move out in their landing craft, probably
praying that the 'ol girl still floats.

Hetzer and M4 half-track - Unrelated photo. This is the halftrack I
helped restore and drive at public events and parades. The WWII German
Hetzer is driven by the same fellow seen in the previous photo. This
photo was taken at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas.
