Mechanical failure!
   (Ver 1)

The following series of pictures are of a C-130 series Hercules that has had a major engine failure.
It appears the either the gear reduction box has seized and the resultant propeller forces have ripped the entire propeller and gearbox unit from the aircraft.
Or: that the propeller has thrown a blade and then the now unbalanced propeller has torn itself and the gearbox from the aircraft. Whatever happened, something at least the size of a propeller blad went through the fuselage.
The damage to the fuselage is impressive, as is the fact that as this presumably happened in flight, that the crew had sufficient control and the aircraft structural integrity to be able to land!

Now for the impressive bit, the exit point on the other side. It looks like a piece of plywood has been placed inside the rather large hole.

Note the punctures and dents in the auxillary fuel tank. Also the damage to the No 2 propeller blades.
